Dear Hannah…our vow to you from Dad and Mom

Dear Hannah,

Alongside us, you have heard us both talk about the movements highlighting sexual assault in the recent months.  We don’t dwell on recent news a lot, but we do discuss it from time to time and as we do you are keenly aware we are sure. You hear us pray immediately after we discuss because this news is not shocking, the world is dark and everything in it, except one has the light of Jesus Christ.  We are writing this letter to you because we are making a vow to you as well as all our subsequent children so we you know we will protect you the best way we can. 

Hannah Iyanuoluwa Oghosa Hulda Peace you are beautiful, a beloved of  God, knitted in your mother’s womb by the maker of all things, God. You were a gift, prayed for, and loved by us Mom and Dad because we love God who first loved us. Nine months we prayed and decreed over your life that we believe will last your entire life, but when you were born our prayers didn’t stop for you. Our duty as Born-Again believers of Yeshuwa, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is to continue to communicate and petition to God on your behalf for the rest of our natural-born life. We will never stop praying for you and loving you by the special grace of God!

In the wake of the most recent landmark case involving Larry Nassar, there has been majour concerns in the world on how to protect children like you in any arena, specifically the sports arena. This case also highlights safe guarding you within our home, even those closest to you and even us as your parents. A few things we want to vow to you.

1. We are giving you over to God because He is the only one that can really safe guard you BUT we aren’t being ignorant of the enemies devices and we will be WORKING alongside God.

We will tarry in prayers for your safety everywhere you go. We will plead the blood of Jesus over your body/private parts, as well as your going in and going out. We will not when we are around you leave you alone in a room with a man or woman even if they are related to us or are Church clergy of any kind, also we will not let you go off with anyone alone in our presence. We will listen to the Holy Spirit on any person’s spirit in and around our home as well as outside our home, and not only tell you we do or do not want them around our family but explain why! We will always explain the WHY in anything we discuss with you.

2. We will teach you what your private parts are called as soon as you can understand, where they are located, and have open conversations about sex and Jesus Christ’s beautiful enjoyment of it within marriage.

You cannot talk full words yet, but we openly use the correct terms to identify your private parts now so you can be aware these are private parts that belong to you, God, and your future spouse if God tarries. Also using the correct names helps you explain clearly to us your parents and law enforcement if anything were to happen. We openly show display of appropriate affection like hugging intimately and kissing in front of you so you know it’s natural to do but ONLY because mom and dad are married, and this is the only time it should be ok, not sooner!

3. We will explain not everyone who is friendly has good motives.  BUT  we will not allow you to fear people and understand the Spirit of God still resides in those who are Born Again and constantly abiding with the Spirit of God.  

It is clear there are grooming techniques those who have a problem with abuse use, like winning your trust, being nice to you, complimenting your look and outfit, and giving you food and candy. We implore you to take the compliments with grace say thank you and immediately resume what you were doing, keep a distance and don’t dwell too much on it. With food and candy unless approved by us mom and dad, kindly refuse or if taken bring to mom or dad to inspect.

With these conversations fear can come over you because who can we trust now we may ask? Even those in Church can make us skeptical now, BUT know when you give your life over to Jesus Christ He gives you His power in the form of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God for your protection and to help discern people’s spirit good or bad. Also, look out for the track record of people’s action physically in words and in touch. Watch how they engage with you. God will give you supernatural discernment in Jesus name.

You don’t need added hair, makeup, or jewelry to enhance your beauty as the world tells you, or someone who potentially wants to win your trust to hurt you.

4. We are not banning you from sports or recreational activities if God is calling you to compete as well as use to stay fit, but we will not dum down the importance of modesty within and outside of these sports.

We also will advocate for you within these sports that in no way can abuse be used emotionally in the name of discipline. If any abuse is seen, we as parents in the name of attaining an earthly goal will NOT leave you to continue to compete, we vow to remove you from these sports and explain. Reaching for Heaven is more important than an earthly goal. Smart electronic gadgets will be given to you like a smart watch where you can alert us mom and dad, as well as the authorities if you are ever in danger.

With sports in the 21st Century, the costumes that are getting shorter and tighter. In the name of modesty we cannot ignore this fact, so Hannah we will teach you the importance of not wearing these sport attires outside their designated arenas, even as far as regulating these pictures off of your personal social media pages if you choose to have one.

5. We will ALWAYS carefully listen to you and we vow to NOT ignore you if you have a concern or complaint about anyone close to you making you feel uncomfortably sexually or non sexually.

We are always here to listen as long as we live Hannah. Feel comfortable to always come to share anything uncomfortable that happens to mom directly or dad directly. If we aren’t here we promise to help you identify who you can trust with disclosing any uncomfortable situation, God forbid you find yourself in one.

These are our promises to you our baby girl.  You are beautiful naturally and we will continue to affirm that. You don’t need added hair, makeup, or jewelry to enhance your beauty as the world tells you, or someone who potentially wants to win your trust to hurt you. We will continue to pour the Word of God into you, the Love of God, and make sure you are a God-fearing, self-assured, self-confident and equipped with the physical and emotional self-defense techniques you will need in this temporary home we call earth.

We love you Hannah and we are praying for you always.
