What a busy month of May it was! I passed the first set of tests needed to get a full U.K. driving license; Planned an epic first birthday party solely to bring Glory to God for our baby girl and celebrated the birthday of my Pastor and leader over my home, my husband.

HISTORY

All these activities also meant I had to do cute hairstyles to fit the occasions.

My natural hair routine is very simple. Thankfully when I went natural in 2012 by cutting the hair that I had permed all of twice in my life I didn’t become a product junkie. I started following the most prominent YouTube natural hair blogger at the time Naptural85 and adopted her simple hair routine using what at the time seemed to be the most natural product for our hair the American brand Trader Joe’s shampoo and conditioner, shea butter and  any oil I had on hand mostly, coconut oil . Then I evolved in my journey by regularly going  to a natural hair salon where I would get regular deep conditioning, hot oil treatments and trims when needed. My hair was at prime state. The thing though with going to  hair salon is when you don’t have the money to spend on a wash and style can be tough ,so I still had to know how to maintain my own hair in between.

I say all this because we’ve all had our ups and downs with product trying as a natural. Thankfully I have mostly gotten things that have been well reviewed, tried it on my hair and they have worked. But there is a new wave of Kinky curly natural hair care that’s has befallen on us now that the movement has evolved.

2017

A NEW ERA

We are learning that many hair companies, including those targeting their products to us ‘Natural girls’, are adding ingredients that don’t help retain moisture on our kinky curly hair needs(sulfate), or add to other negative  health problems. This was a good video I watched about the matter.

So there is a revival within our kinky curly natural hair community urging us to use more natural products! My big sister and founder of Revive and Thrive Hair Care yielded that calling and started making her own DIY natural hair products for herself and her 3 daughters back in 2013. She launched the company to bless the public this year in the United States and I am blessed to be a U.K. brand ambassador for her first released product the Shea Lavender Moisturizing Hair Cream.

THE REVIEW

I received my package through one of  Sister Ruth’s U.K. Friends. When I first got the package I could immediately smell the aroma of Lavender essential oil, it was a little strong but still lovely, just one of the FEW yet natural ONLY organic ingredients found in the Shea Lavender Moisturizing Hair Cream.

I also liked the option of both bottle tops. Giving me the option to put which ever way you would like the liquid disseminated,although for travel sake as well it was safer to use the tops seen in the picture above.

A full sized bottle is $20, which can last you quite a while. I feel for the amount of quantity, all Organic natural ingredients and labour of love used to make it, it is well worth the money!

Each package, including mine, comes with a detailed set of instructions on how to use the product, detailed ingredients list and the benefit these products have on our natural Kinky curly hair. Here is the wonderful sheet.

The consistency of the product is nicely whipped and light.

Samples of Shea Lavender Moisturizing Creme

I used the Shea Lavender Moisturizing Hair Cream as a Pre-ShamPOO first and followed the instructions  given. After leaving a plastic cap on my head for 30 minutes my hair felt very moisturized. I then went on to shampooing and conditioning my hair as normal and felt my hair wasn’t too stripped of my natural oils because of Shea Lavender Moisturizing Hair Cream.

I then used the Shea Lavender Moisturizing Hair Cream as a Leave-In-Conditioning and I did feel the effects of the tea tree soothing my scalp.

All in all, not only because I am a U.K. distributer and brand ambassador for Revive and Thrive Hair , I would give the product a 10/10.

It has EVERYTHING our hair needs and doesn’t weigh down my hair. It gave my hair moisture and I now use it on a weekly basis and sometimes on my daughter Hannah’s Hair.
