Janet here with another long awaited post. I have been witting this post since last October 2018 (insert smily with hand on face here)! The I started law school in the world renowned city of Cambridge and online September of 2018 which I am loving, as well as gave birth to a second child praise the Lord! What also took a while was sharing affiliate links where you can buy everything I talk about, for both United States and United Kingdom, but great news the USA links should be able to redirect you to the amazon in your country .
Lets get on with this! Its funny because I have been asked so many times, higher than usual in the past recent months what products are my favourite to use. Maybe it’s because I just had another newborn. Probably! But I love, LOVE watching on Youtube and reading moms favourite products they loved for their newborn! It helped me get a sense of the products I would want to use for Hannah before and after I was born, especially as a natural loving kinda mom. In other posts I have mentioned some moms I have loved learning from on social media but I definitely will write a more in depth post of my favourite youtube and blogger moms, especially whom I have learned a lot from product wise.
SO the products I am going to mention plus the order is a little unique because my family and I are blessed to be apart of an amazing community of Christ believer, family and friends. So we used a lot of what we got gifted for Hannah and we are still using many clothes given to her that will last till she is out of toddlerhood! 😀 Anyway lets get into it!
- Burts Bees Baby Bee Multipurpose Ointment
(US LINK)
This was the first product my husband and I bought for Hannah 2 weeks after she was born, one that wasn’t bought by others. Hannah like most babies had baby acne/heat rash being born in the warm May almost June months. Research shows you these types of rash do go away on its own, but it is also important to keep babies skin moisturised as well with these rashes. We were advices to use petroleum jelly, and if you also look into how toxic that product is you’ll understand why we went for Burts Bees “FREE of petroleum jelly” ointment I still use this for Hannah everyday and will probably use it till I don’t know ..she is an adult haha. You can use it all over babies body, with any dry skin you may see in colder months, and also for mom and dad too.
2. Shea Moisture Head to Toe Baby Wash
This may or may not be the most natural baby wash but for our melinin skin and hair but I do trust Shea Moisture products! Also using something else besides the Johnson and Johnson baby wash with ingredients I can’t even pronounce, given to you at American hospital! Hannah still uses it till this day I plan on switching her to a kid shampoo just for her hair closer to when turns two but still use this for her body.
My husband wants to add it smells really nice 😀
3. SheaMoisture Ultra-Sensitive Fragrance Gluten-Free & Tear-Free Healing Lotion
(US LINK)
This was the first lotion that touched Hannahs skin once she took her first bath. It is sensitive for babies skin and smells very pleasant, not heavily scented like a lot of baby lotions can be! I would say it is quite expensive in the UK and I have not re-bought it. I use a Hannah’s hurts bees as her main moisturiser here.
4. Reusable Cloth Nappy/Diapers
(US LINK)
God was so gracious for these purchases, because buying a new stash of like 20 or more cloth nappies can be very expensive! But once you buy an ALL-IN-ONE nappy, they last you all the way till your baby is potty trained. I got all my 30+ nappies second hand from a local facebook selling group but brand new! I got the Tots Bots brand and Ebay brand (which I only use during the day because they aren’t as absorbent). There are so many advantages in using cloth nappies vs disposable and these are just a few videos to watch why:

As a family we love it, and for the moms who think the dads can’t enjoy it, my husbands enjoys it and is totally on board!
We use disposable liners (click to order my favourite at the moment) inside our all in one nappies and as the poops get bigger this will be rather helpful, so you can just slide it straight into the toilet.
We also use nappy covers to seal in the moisture of extra soaked nappies from bigger than usual wee’s during the day and at night. We have a nappy bucket and wet bag but I will blog more about our cloth nappy experience.
5. Swaddle Blankets
(US LINK)
If you want your baby to sleep like a pro in the early days before they can get out of them(haha), then you must swaddle them. I loved the ones gifted to us in the picture above . I have saved and kept some looking brand new for our next baby, but now Hannah is a toddler I use them to cover any furniture she uses with her portable high chair so no food gets on the them.
6. SuvyBaby Plate
Loved this plate for Hannah before one. So no homemade baby food I made for her had to go into the microwave, I just had to put hot water underneath the hot plate to heat the food, let it cool a bit and would serve Hannah, I used it to introduce foods my husband and I would eat as well
7. Extra Virgin Olive Oil,Castor Oil, Almond Oil
These are my favourite oils I loved using on Hannahs hair, I still use thee today for her any self. Hannah like most babies also had cradle cap and the Extra Virgin Olive oil is so lubricating, a couple times of soaking Hannah’s hair and using a soft comb or to take the dry flakes out, did wonders!
8. WaterWipes
(US LINK)
Many moms have it on my list so i’ll add it too as an healthy wipes alternative. We actually use water and reusable wipes which I think is just as natural as well. I use wipes when we are out in public and water isn’t always assessable. They are quite expensive in the UK, but I found a recent cheaper alternative. Superdrug now carries a travel size you can buy and also buying in bulk is also cheaper from Amazon in a box.
9. Wet Bag
As a cloth napping mum I need a place to put my dirty nappies when I am out and about and need to change my daughters, or even if they need to change their clothes I would put it in this wet bag. Anything laundry worthy I would put it in this wet bag. Super fun designs and very practical . I need to get another one now that I have two children 😀 Below is the one I have, less than 2 pounds in the UK, you can also get other brands that come in packs of 3 as well.
10. Nasal Aspirator
Ok. So I got this a little after Hannah turned one and it’s so amazing! I saw it from a mum on youtube and I was like I gotta have it! It is just as good as when you suck the snot out of your baby’s nose with your mouth!! Get your own now and throw away your old style nose sucker.
Thats it! So happy to finally have finished witting this! It’s Mothering Sunday here in the United Kingdom today and I want to wish and encourage all mums that you are enough in times when you may feel you aren’t. God sees your efforts and sees you trying! Amen!
In His Love,
